MBIF FC PFYRE'S HIGH FLYIN DREAMER,

LCM-II, CRX-II, OTR

Flyer was the first born Whippet puppy whelped at Pfyre. He was also the puppy no one wanted. Their loss is my gain, he has wrapped himself around my heart so tightly, I couldn't imagine life without him.

He was a wonderful Lure Coursing dog with the ability to be either spectacularly good or if he wanted to play, spectacularly bad. He has multiple Best In Fields, however, because of an unfortunate accident he was, for all intents and purposes, retired from LCing in 1998. We then discovered how *much* fun we could have racing (no turns), and he has acquired enough WRA race points to wear a CRX-II title.

On October 23, 2000, 13 months after he had last lure coursed, he was entered as a filler at our AKC trial. We did this knowing that we could run to the left in the prelims, and he has no problem making left turns. After the prelims he was all alone in first place. So, after much debate, we decided to let him run the final. HE WENT ALL THE WAY TO BEST IN FIELD. His first on our home field, all of his other spectacular runs have been on fields far away. What a way to finish his AKC Field Championship.

He finished his LCM-II, from the veteran stake, at the 2002 AWC National LCing trial in Colorado. Going in needing 2 points, he finished in a tie for 3rd. We took the fourth and went home VERY happy. That was his last lure coursing trial.

After catching a foot in his blanket, in July of 2005 and scaring us half to death.  Flyer is totally retired from competitive running.  He'll continue to be the boss here at Pfyre for (hopefully) many, many years to come.

Probably my two favorite photos of this special dog.  Both taken by Dan Gauss of Shot-On-Site Photography.  On the left, on his way to his first lure coursing BOB on July 4th 1996 (just under 15 months of age) and on the right, at a CARA race meet on July 17, 2004 (at 9 years 3 months of age).

Flyer, playing the other game with co-owner Shannon.  Taken at the 1997 AWC National.

He can't lead for long, but he can still show those young whippersnappers how to get out of the box.  Photo taken 08/07/04, by Dan Gauss, Shot-On-Site.

Still going at just over 10 years of age.

Photo taken at the WVRC meet on May 23, 2005.  I'm sorry I don't know the name of the photographer, who is a member of the club.
